My portraits feel like performing a seance and my landscapes feel like lucid dreaming. I was raised on a ranch in Weatherford, Texas and spend most of my childhood outside. I thought trees had songs and fairies were born from seeds. The elements of play and imagination that were so prevalent in my childhood are still a part of how I create today. Whether I am painting a person, a leaf or a landscape, my aim is to celebrate the story that resides there. People and nature carry such vibrant stories you can feel them, even if they are never articulated. My attempt is not to represent the whole story, but to acknowledge each story with respect. I am grateful to witness so many powerful and beautiful places and people.
